2024.7.23 Taiwan News

The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO) will present “Pastoral Scenery - Aichner & ESO” on Thursday (Aug. 8) at 7:30 p.m. at the National Concert Hall.

In this perfectly refreshing and soothing concert, conductor Lorenz C. Aichner will lead the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in performing I. Stravinsky’s (1882-1971) “Pulcinella Suite” and L. van Beethoven’s (1770-1827) Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral” during this hot season. Furthermore, pianist Daniel Ciobanu, who performed with ESO in Taiwan in 2019, will join the orchestra once again to play D. Shostakovich’s (1906-1975) Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Major.

Austrian conductor Lorenz C. Aichner, who currently works throughout Europe and Asia on a freelance basis, has collaborated with the Orchestra of the Volksoper Wien, the Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich, and the RSO Wien. He has led many successful opera productions, with a repertoire that includes “The Magic Flute”, “La Bohème,” and the ballet “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Having collaborated with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra last year, Aichner returns with confidence in offering a fresh musical perspective for the audience.

The other prominent star of the concert is the Romanian pianist Daniel Ciobanu, the silver medalist at the 2017 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. His performances have been highly praised by French music critic Alain Lompech, who described him as having “a full and luminous sound, immense pianistic poise, sensibility, and originality without overwhelming ego.”

On the evening of Aug. 8, the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra sincerely invites classical music lovers to attend the National Concert Hall and enjoy an idyllic, joyful, and pastoral musical experience.
